“What in the world is a niche” was the first thing that I thought of when I started reading up on successful blogging. All I could think of was a niche. You know, a small recess in a wall where people put stuff. One friend has crosses in hers. Another a vase. So what in the world does a niche have to do with blogging?
In the blogging world, a niche is just that. You create a blog with a specific niche, or topic. A topic you’re passionate about. You can have multiple niches or just one. It’s something that targets specific readers, but needs to be something that you can post about frequently, without running out of ideas.
So now you’re wondering what my niche is, right? Well, it certainly isn’t going to be talking about myself and my messes. I realized quickly that if I’m using my blog to tell a story about my journey through depression and anxiety, I’d burnout so fast. So I’ve had to come up with a new niche or two. Or three.
Now, my blog really consists of my journey through depression and anxiety, as I said, but I’m also going to include topics like Jesus + learning to abide in Him + DIY + printables & organization tools. So, it’s basically a lifestyle blog. I’m excited to add to what I already have going. Bottom line is, no matter what the niche, I just want to glorify God through it. It’s not about attention. It’s not about my opinions. It’s all about Jesus. And that satisfies me (and Him) and, Lord willing, keep this blog going.
